White or gray white flake crystal. Soluble in water, soluble in 95% ethanol, insoluble in ether, a small amount soluble in concentrated caustic aqueous solution and ethanol solution. Use: it is used to prepare acid, direct dye and edible red pigment, and it is also used as antidote for nitrite and iodine poisoning.
