Acrylic acid generally refers to acrylic acid resin. Acrylic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H4O2. It is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor, miscible with water, and soluble in ethanol and ether. It is chemically active and easily polymerizes in air. It can be reduced to propionic acid by hydrogenation and reacts with hydrogen chloride to produce 2-chloropropionic acid. It is mainly used for the preparation of acrylic resins.
